This statement relates to our privacy practices in connection with this website and mobile applications. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of other websites. The customer paying for the care service

Carer

The person providing the care

Care Recipient

The person receiving the care. The care recipient may also be the Account Holder.

Website

The term website refers to the internet site HomeCareDirect.ie and any associated mobile applications (iOS, Android etc)

Web browser

The piece of software you use to read web pages. Examples are Microsoft Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome and Safari.

IP address

The identifying details for your computer (or your internet company’s computer), expressed in "internet protocol" code. Every computer connected to the web has a unique IP address, although the address may not be the same every time a connection is made.

Cookies

Small pieces of information, stored in simple text files, placed on your computer by a web site. Cookies can be read by the web site on your subsequent visits. The information stored in a cookie may relate to your browsing habits on the web page, or a unique identification number so that the web site can "remember" you on your return visit. HomeCareDirect.ie is a website and associated mobile applications whose primary function is to facilitate the introduction of Account Holders to Carers and the communication and management of information between Account Holders and Carers. To provide this service requires the collection of certain minimum information from Account Holders and Carers. In this regard it fully respects the rights to privacy of all users and in relation to the running of the platform collects two distinct types of information:

  • Personal Information
  • Technical Information

We will not collect any personal information about you on this website without your clear permission. Any personal information which you volunteer will be treated with the highest standards of security and confidentiality, strictly in accordance with the Data Protection Acts, 1988 &; 2003.

  1. Collection and use of personal information

    HomeCareDirect.ie does not collect any personal data about you on this website, apart from information which you volunteer and provide us with - for example by becoming an Account Holder or Carer, contacting us and taking part in commenting on our blog or other content. To become an Account Holder you will be asked to provide personal information and details such as name, address, mobile number, services required and details of the Care Recipient. If you are a Carer you will be asked to supply additional information such as your caring experience, general abilities, qualifications, Garda clearance information and your bank account details to facilitate payments to you.Any information which you provide in this way is not made available to any third parties other than in the normal course of business such as promoting your profile or sharing necessary information with Account Holders. Additionally we may, in accordance with the Terms and Conditions of the service use this information to:

    • Contact you at any time regarding any aspect of the service
    • Send promotional emails from the website
    • Send promotional emails behalf of third parties but without allowing those third parties to have access to individual email addresses or mobile telephone numbers.

    Additionally, in regard to the functionality of the website, HomeCareDirect.ie uses location enabled services which assist communication between Account Holder and Carer and contain GPS co-ordinates of Carer locations when 'checking in' and 'checking out' of visits. HomeCareDirect.ie also has access to view all data within the platform such as but not limited to messaging, visit details etc.

  2. Collection and use of technical information

    This website does not require the use of cookies however they are required for certain preferences and functionality, including the login for Account Holders and Carers. Cookies are used to enhance user experience by storing user preferences and to automatically log users into the site.

    Technical details in connection with visits to this website are logged by our internet service provider for our statistical purposes. Apart from information specifically collected with your permission, no information is collected that could be used by us to identify website visitors. The technical details logged are confined to the following items:

    the IP address of the visitor's web server

    the top-level domain name used (for example .ie, .com, .org, .net) the previous website address from which the visitor reached us, including any search terms used clickstream data which shows the traffic of visitors around this web site (for example pages accessed and documents downloaded) the type of web browser used by the website visitor.

    HomeCareDirect.ie will make no attempt to identify individual visitors, or to associate the technical details listed above with any individual. It is the policy of HomeCareDirect.ie never to disclose such technical information in respect of individual website visitors to any third party (apart from our internet service provider, which records such data on our behalf and which is bound by confidentiality provisions in this regard), unless obliged to disclose such information by a rule of law. The technical information will be used only by HomeCareDirect.ie and only for statistical and other administrative purposes.
