How We Work

1. Search & Contact Local Carers

Home Care Direct have recruited the best carers available in your chosen area. We have interviewed them, reference checked them and checked their Garda Vetting. We only recruit carers that we are 100% happy with. Carers who have the right attitude and who are committed to their career. An added security for you, is that all Carers have insurance for all visits paid through the platform.

Initially you can browse summary profiles of Carers based on your chosen location only. Once you have entered your name and contact details, you will be able to carry out a more detailed search.

Your search will show carers who are available to work in your chosen area and who match your search criteria. The carers shown will be ordered based on how close they live to the care location.

When you click on a carer who you think might be suitable, you will be able to see their full profile including their general availability, their experience, their qualifications and any particular skillsets such as if they are drivers.

We also having a rating system based on previous clients feedback so that you can be absolutely sure that the carer you take on is suitable for your needs.

Carers work for themselves and are tax compliant. They set their own rates and times of work. Their charge rates will be visible on their profiles.

When you first message the Carer, they might not be immediately available to respond but leave a message and they will contact you as soon as they are.

Once the Carer has made contact, feel free to exchange numbers or to arrange to meet up if this is more convenient. Please discuss the type of care and support needed as well as the times of care and the Carer’s charge rates.

When you have agreed everything, the Carer will then send you a standard contract from the platform including the details of what you have agreed. You will need to review and accept the contract. In order to be able to accept a contract, you will have had to enter your payment details into the account holder’s profile.

Please note, that if you contract Carers outside the platform they will not be covered by our insurance and you will have no assurance that they are tax compliant. Additionally, you will not be able to receive invoices and apply for the available tax relief. You will also put at risks the Carer’s ability to continue working with the platform.

3. Manage care and payments

A balance of one weeks care is taken from the account holder’s card and held in their payment account. Once your care has been delivered, you will be asked to approve the care only then enabling the actual payment to your carer.

Each week your payment account is topped up automatically based on the value of one weeks care minus any balance still in the account.

Payments to carers are only made, once you decide you are happy with the care delivered.

The platform and your app also alert you or family members when a carer has arrived and when they have left. In addition you will be able to see the digital visit notes the carer has left.
